James Aikman

James Aikman was born in 1885 at Minmi Rd, Plattsburg, Wallsend, NSW, the youngest son of Robert Aikman and his wife Susan McLean Sharp. He enlisted in 1915 and served at Heliopolis, Egypt. He returned to Australia on HMAT Runic in 1916 after suffering cardiac disability. He then re-enlisted in Melbourne Victoria under the name of Arthur Nairn Stirling Aikman. He served in France in 1917 and in 1918 was promoted to Sergeant. He returned to Australia in 1919 on the “Lancashire” and died later that year of Brights Disease and wounds received in the war. He is buried at Rookwood Cemetery, Sydney.

Robert McFadden

Robert McFadden was born 23 November 1891 at Minmi near Newcastle, to John McFadden and his wife Catherine Campbell Aikman. He married Rosannah Eliza Maud Cameron in 1915. He died on 16 October 1965 at Rankin Park Hospital, New Lambton, NSW and was cremated at Beresfied Crematorium.

My grandfather was born 2 October 1893 at Minmi, near Newcastle in NSW to John McFadden and his wife Catherine Campbell. He married Elizabeth Jane Brown on 2 July 1913 at Kurri Kurri Methodist Parsonage and had five children. He died on 25 May 1974 at 16 Fifth St, Boolaroo, NSW. He was known as Jack.

Cyrus Murray

Born 18 August 1866 at Fordoun, Kincardineshire, Scotland; son of Robert Murray and Jane Christie. It seems he never married and died at Lidcombe Hospital, Sydney 8.2.1951.

He was buried at Presbyterian Cemetery, Rookwood, Sydney, N.S.W. 9.2.1951
